Scope and content

The sepia-coloured picture is a photo of the marble statue of The Good Shepherd carrying a lamb, c. 300-350, from the Catacombs of Domitilla at the Vatican Museums in Rome. Under this photo, one finds a prayer taken from the Roman Missal reading "Jesus good Shepherd, and true bread, have mercy on us, feed us and guard us. Grant that we find happiness in the land of the living." This prayer was formerly recited for private devotion at the elevation during the Mass. It comes from the last two verses of Lauda Sion, which was composed by St. Thomas Aquinas (+1274) for the feast of Corpus Christi. Overleaf, at the top, one finds the logo of the XXXV International Eucharistic Congress which was held in Barcelona, Spain. This image is a memento of this event. At the end, one finds the Prayer over the Offering said during the Mass of Corpus Christi: "Grant your Church, O Lord, we pray, the gifts of unity and peace, whose signs are to be seen in mystery in the offerings we here present."
