Scope and content
The very colourful image spread over two pages at the front depicts the Blessed Crucifix on the left and the Basilica of St Peter's on the right. Underneath this second picture, one finds the verse from the Holy Bible "you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it." (Mt 16:18). At the top, one finds printed "O Crucified Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner" and at the bottom, one finds "O Crucified Christ, may I live and die being faithful to You, the Church and the Pope." In the flowery border below both pictures, there is a scroll with a handwritten note by Pope Benedict XV. Overleaf, on the left hand side, one finds a vow made to the Blessed Crucifix, the Church and the Pope. Interesting to note is the rubber stamp at the end of this writing pertaining to Angelo Fedele, 164 Strada S. Paolo, Cospicua, Malta. On the right hand side between two colourful columns one finds a prayer to the Blessed Crucifix.
